Biography Andrew Jackson was born in San Francisco in 1960. Upon his father's retirement from the U.S. Army in 1966, his family moved to San Jose . He studied the figure extensively during his undergraduate work at San Jose State University . After receiving his B.F.A. degree in 1983, he visited New York City to enroll in the Art Student's League. Frequenting the museums and galleries was a most enriching experience for him, but a more significant experience lay ahead. It was then that he was unexpectedly confronted by a deeper spiritual need. It resulted in a devotion to Christ that would transform his life. Filled with a new spirit accompanied by a hunger to know God's work, he returned home and withdrew from graduate school. His passion for God had replaced his passion for art. |
In 1986, guided by his faith, he re-enrolled in the graduate program at S.J.S.U. He was compelled with a new purpose: to glorify God in his work. Abandoning the figure almost entirely, he searched for other means to express the new life he had received. It was during a time of prayer and fasting that God profoundly answered. Andrew's work took a new direction, developed a third dimension, and poured forth with a new symbolism rich in biblical narrative. Andrew received the masters degree in 1989. Some time after marriage, Andrew painfully lay aside his art. He sought earnestly to fulfill his obligation as a husband and father in providing a home and security for his family. Filled with conviction, he entered the demanding life of law enforcement.

In faith, he perseveres with newfound determination to exercise his God-given gifts. Combining art with his love for God's Word, Andrew once again seeks to proclaim the message of the gospel through contemporary visual arts.
